After a redshirt year at Hawaii, the 2013 Konawaena graduate had a his first big hit for the Rainbow Warriors at the Houston College Classic on Saturday at Minute Maid Park.

Kitaoka cranked a two-out, bases-clearing double in the ninth inning, but it wasn’t enough and Nebraska held off UH 4-3.

UH catcher Chayce Kaaua, a 2013 Hilo graduate, batted 0 for 3 but walked and scored a run.

Tyler Brashears took a hard-luck loss with seven innings of two-run ball; both runs were unearned.

The Rainbow Warriors (6-9) play No. 8 Houston on Sunday to conclude the tourney.
